Five Ways to Guarantee that You’ll NEVER Quit Smoking

Brought to you by the Good-For-You-And-Your-Children Tobacco
Company.

You’re hearing it from all directions: “Quit smoking!” But the
heck with that! You’re going to smoke until the day you die,
right? Here’s how to “fight back” against the tyrants and
authority establishment that is trying to make you quit.

First, you must never believe that quitting smoking is possible.
On the contrary, no one has ever quit smoking. Once you’ve had
one puff, you’re hooked for life. Might as well just start
smoking even if you only inhale some second-hand smoke. You see,
if you believe you can quit smoking, then you might actually try
to do something about it. Believing is the first, most important
step to becoming an evil “non-smoker”. So don’t believe what you
hear from anyone else. Don’t believe your own gut-instinct that
tells you that you do have the ability to quit. You don’t! It’s
impossible! Forget it!

20 Shocking Smoking Facts

buttsjar.jpgbuttsjar.jpgWhat Danger do We Face From Tobacco Use?

As smokers, we learn early on to put up a mental wall of denial between our smoking
habit and the harsh reality of the damage we’re inflicting on ourselves with every cigarette smoked.

We tell ourselves lies that allow us smoke with some level of comfort. We say we have time to quit…that cancer doesn’t run in our family…that we can quit any time we want to…that the bad things happen to other people. And because smoking is typically a slow killer, those lies support the framework of our wall of denial for years and years.

Eventually though, most smokers find that the wall begins to crumble, and bit by bit, smoking becomes a fearful, anxious activity. This is when most smokers start seriously thinking about how they might find a way to quit smoking for good.

How I Managed To Quit Smoking

“Quit smoking.” It sounds like such a simple thing, and for people who don’t smoke it is exactly that simple. Unfortunately, as a former smoker, I can tell you it’s actually the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It’s also the best thing I’ve ever done.

The High Price of Cool

We all know tobacco is horrible for you, and studies have shown that nicotine is more addictive than cocaine, so where does the appeal come from? That’s easy, it makes you look cool. There is almost no other explanation that fits. Call it whatever you want, but that’s basically what it boils down to: you want to be cool.

Quit Smoking Story - “After smoking 26 years I did quit”

I smoked for about 26 years and finally quit cold turkey on August 2, 1991. My mother had just passed away from complications of emphysema and that may or may not have been one of the reasons I was able to quit. I just know that I woke up on Aug.2 and said to myself, “I’m quitting smoking today”. Now, I don’t know for sure where that determination came from and what made it “stick”, but I do know that I prayed and tried many times to quit with no success until that day. Some of the things that I know helped me:

  • Kept a jigsaw puzzle on my kitchen table at all times, and at times when I would get the urge to smoke, I would go work on it! I really think that helped me more than anything (besides God!)
  • Stopped drinking coffee (I loved my mornings with coffee and cigarettes!)
  • Quit drinking any kind of alcohol.
  • Carried a large bag of M & M’s with me at all times! Yup, I gained some weight (about 12 lbs) I later lost the weight on a low-fat diet.

I thought I would never be able to quit, but I did, and I’m very thankful to be free of it. It’s been like a huge burden lifted off my shoulders! I still thank God!

After a while, I was able to drink coffe again without smoking! Ha! And also I can have a beer (yay!) or two without needing a cigarette!

Good luck, and “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again”!

Life is good!!!!
