It is very tempting to have a “one last cigarette” when you quit smoking. Do you know that there is no such thing as “one last cigarette”. For instance, if you had your “one last cigarette”, you will be craving for more. Besides, having a “one last cigarette” is not going to help you quit smoking but drag you back into the pit of death.
How do you curb this urge especially if you have a friend or family member who is tempting you to smoke since they are smoking and you are trying to stop?
You need to be strong, you need to be persistent. Have a strong determination will help you to curb the urge of another smoke. Those with weak determination will easily be persuaded into taking another puff and end up failing.
It is not easy to be so determined at something but if you have set your mind and goal to quit smoking, you will be able to do so.
In times like this, it is advisable to do the following:
- An afternoon at the movies
- A pedicure and/or a manicure
- Take a long walk in nature, and bring the dog!
- Give yourself an hour to soak in a long hot bath
- Relax with a good book
- Head to the gym for a workout and a swim
- Go on a mini shopping spree
- Take a power nap
- Splurge on a hot fudge sundae with all the fixings
When you have completed each task, you will feel better and you don’t even remember to smoke (maybe).
Try it and see if it works for you. I am sure some of it will work, if not all!
