Smoking And Crime: Side By Side

This sounds unbelievable. Mother-to-be who smokes is likely to give birth to a criminal child? What is the science behind this statement?
“Women who smoke during pregnancy put their babies at risk for a host of physical and developmental problems. But could they also tip the scales in favor of criminal activity and drug abuse by their children down the road?” – quoted from Jennifer Jones.
More findings:
“… daughters of women who smoked more than 10 cigarettes a day were almost three times as likely to be hospitalized for substance abuse and one and a half times as likely to be arrested than were women whose mothers did not smoke during pregnancy. Sons of women who smoked this amount were also more likely to be arrested than were the sons of nonsmokers.”
Isn’t this scary enough for any mother-to-be? I think this should be enough to encourage you to stop smoking immediately when you are pregnant. Of course you would not want to have your kids down the bad road.
Although it seems impossible but why not take into consideration the research by these experts. You never know what will happen in the future but there is no harm in listening to them so pay attention to your health and habits when you are pregnant. Whatever you do will have effects on your newborn baby. Be a responsible mother even before the baby is born.
