Tips On Stopping Smoking Today

Many longtime smokers will agree that kicking the habit of smoking is nearly impossible once you begin. Here are some tips on stopping smoking that you can start right now; today, in fact to help you kick the habit.

If you are able to identify what triggers your smoking in the first place, you will have much greater success with eliminating the habit for good.

1. Make a commitment to yourself that you will stop smoking and be sure to tell everyone you know about your goal to stop smoking. You are more likely to succeed when you have others supporting you.

2. Clean up your living spaces at home and at work. Clean these spaces of all ashtrays, tobacco products and lighters. Anything that reminds you of smoking should be rearranged or removed completely.

3. As you are probably aware, sometimes people or places can cause us to start thinking about smoking and then, ultimately, give into the temptation. Keep yourself on track by avoiding these subtle temptations. It will go a long way towards your success.

4. Don’t talk yourself into having a cigarette; that is self sabotage. Sometimes we will make ourselves believe that because we had a tough day at work that we deserve a cigarette. Not true this is just an excuse. Dont break your new routine.

5. It is very important to recognize that most of kicking the habit is won in the mind. Make a special effort to get more informed about all of the obstacles you will face in quitting, both in the physical world and in your own mind. A properly laid out plan will keep your mind on track and that is more than half of the battle.

These tips on stopping smoking should have you well on your way to success. The most important step you can take is to get started right way. Start small, but just get started. Here’s to your kicking the habit for life!
